Japanese Writing System

Katakana

Here explains the different types of writing in Japanese.

HIRAGANA – are Japanese characters used in writing Japanese original words and names.

Hiragana

 example:
 Hiragana  Romaji  English
 やま  yama  mountain
 かわ  Kawa  river
 やまださん  Yamadasan  Mr. Yamada
 にほん  nihon  Japan

 

KATAKANA – are Japanese characters used in writing foreign words and names, especially representing how it sounds.

example:
Katakana Romaji English
ドア doa door
コーヒー ko-hi-/koohii coffee
フィリピン Firipin Philippines

Katakana

ROMAJI– a system of writing Japanese that uses the Roman Alphabet.

 example:
 Romaji  English
 yama  mountain
 Kawa  river
 Yamadasan  Mr. Yamada
 nihon  Japan

 

KANJI – a Japanese system of writing based on Chinese symbols.

 example:
 Kanji  English
 山  mountain
 川  river
 山田さん  Mr. Yamada
 日本  Japan

Sample sentences

 sentence with Kanji usage and in Hiragana and Katakana  山田さん  は  川  の そば で コーヒー を 飲んで います。
 sentence w/out Kanji; in Hiragana and Katakana  やまださん は かわ  の そば で こーひー を のんで います。
 in Romaji  Yamada-san wa kawa no soba de koohii wo nonde imasu.
 English equivalent  Mr. Yamada is drinking coffee beside the river.

        wow! thats actually great~! i haven’t tried that yet but some acquaintances does… thats really a good opportunity. go for it. tips? hmm maybe just something that you should be prepared of… they say that you should be prepared for a lot of tasks, projects and homeworks… everyday!😀 but no worries.. surely you’ll get to have some fun and tour at the same time too! it’ll be great!😉
